Two of the best-selling video games in history have teamed up in an unusual crossover: for Mojang Studios’ blocky sandbox Minecraft it came out Tetris expansion based on the legendary Soviet puzzle.
The DLC sends players into the Tetris universe to fight Tetrimonsters and search for stolen tetrominoes – those geometric figures of four squares that fall from above into a rectangular glass.
The adventure begins with a round of classic 2D Tetris. The remaining block field after the game turns into a 3D matrix dungeon, hiding the missing Tetriminos and numerous other secrets.
In addition, the classic 2D Tetris is available to play separately (in the lobby) in the Marathon, Sprint and Ultra modes. You can earn trophies for a particularly high score.
The developers add that all gameplay modes in the new DLC are available for co-op play (i.e. multiplayer). The Tetris add-on can be found at Minecraft market (the cost is 1510 coins).
It is worth noting that this is not the first crossover between the two franchises: on June 6 (the 40th anniversary of Tetris) for Minecraft came out addon with tools, items, enemies and blocks in the style of “Tetris”.
According to official Tetris websitethe combined sales of the different versions of the puzzle game have exceeded 520 million copies. Meanwhile, Minecraft last fall became the first single game to break the 300 million sales barrier.
