It will take just over five minutes to cover 300 km.
In the operation of electric vehicles, many potential owners are put off not only by the poor development of the charging station network as such or the limited range on a single charge, but also by the long charging time, which even at express stations is measured in tens of minutes. As reported by CnEVPostChinese company XPeng promised to start building a new generation of charging stations (S5) this quarter, which will be able to transmit up to 800 kW of power and operate with a current of up to 800 A at a voltage of 1000 V.

When connected to such a station, a compatible electric vehicle will be able to replenish the range of more than one kilometer in just one second. In other words, to build up a range of 300 km, it will take five minutes of charging. However, the preparatory stages after connecting the charging cable will take up to 13 seconds, but this is still very fast compared to most solutions available on the market. A liquid system will be used to cool the charging cable and connector at such S5 family stations – of course, taking into account the requirements for the insulation of the conductors from the coolant.
