If you’re looking for a new crime comedy to see in theaters, Lionsgate may have a solution. Called Greedy People, the film will star Himesh Patel and Yesterday’s Lily James, and will see them team up with Joseph Gordon-Levitt to tell a silly story about corruption and desire.
The plot of Greedy People is as follows: “In this darkly comedic crime thriller, rookie cop Will (Himesh Patel) and his renegade partner Terry (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) turn their small island town upside down when they accidentally discover a million dollars at a crime scene (of their own making). After the duo unwisely decide to steal the money, the community’s quirky residents are lured into a cash-crazed frenzy – from an expectant mother (Lily James) to a massage therapist (Simon Rex) to a shrimp company owner (Tim Blake Nelson) – and each learns how far they are willing to go for the almighty dollar.”
Greedy People will hit theaters on August 23, and you can watch the film’s trailer below.
