Lately, Ubisoft has had to deal with numerous discussions and controversies regarding in particular the historical accuracy of Assassin’s Creed Shadows, but even Star Wars Outlaws has not been free from criticism over time, some of which were considered in bad faith by its director.
In particular, in recent months there has been controversy over the appearance of the protagonist Kay Vess of Star Wars Outlaws, which was considered not in line with the real features of the model Humberly Gonzales on whom the character is based. And for director Julian Gerighty it is not worth wasting time with criticisms of this type: “Kay is designed to be an approachable character, a scoundrel who ends up in dramatic situations in her story, making bad decisions and approaching every challenge with humor, humility and determination. That’s what matters to me. And then come on, she’s beautiful”, says Gerighty.
For this reason, adds the director, the criticisms against the character “make no sense to me and are not worth wasting time on. If you approach people in bad faith there is no chance of establishing a real dialogue. What we can do is make the best game possible”. Massive Entertainment therefore wants to focus only and exclusively on the game, whose release is now very close: starting from August 30, 2024 we return to the galaxy far, far away on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
