Well-known insider Jeff Grubb commented on the news about cuts within Bungie. Let us recall that the studio decided to get rid of 220 positions, which is approximately 17% of the staff.
Grabb notesthat Bungie is now essentially run by Herman Hulst, one of the heads of PlayStation. At the same time, the layoffs could have been more extensive – about 350 jobs. But instead of additional layoffs, many people were sent to work at SIE.
Bungie, Grubb says, “will eventually lose its autonomy and become like any other studio within PlayStation Studios under SIE and Herman Hulst.” And that’s not a personal assumption, but a process that’s supposedly already happening.
