Battlefield has been going through hard times lately: active support for the latest game is being curtailed, and one of the development studios is closing. Electronic Arts has high hopes for the next part of the series.
Electronic Arts CEO Andrew Wilson teased the future of Battlefield during a recent financial report company. According to him, this is “one of the most ambitious projects in our history.”
“The community is excited about the work our teams have done and what’s next. This is not only one of (Electronic Arts’) top priorities, but also one of the most ambitious projects in our history,” Wilson said.
Despite Ridgeline Games’ closure in February, Wilson called the team behind the next Battlefield “the biggest in franchise history” in May. DICE, Criterion, Ripple Effect, and now Motive Studio are working on the series’ future.
“We have assembled the best team possible, along with all the resources and technology they need to create an epic Battlefield,” Wilson said nearly three months later.
Wilson also said that each of the seven seasons of Battlefield 2042 has proven the team’s ability to “listen, learn, and be inspired by fans.” The series’ audience has exceeded 25 million people over the past year.
Previously, it was reported that the future of Battlefield is tied to its unified universe, which includes new multiplayer and single-player elements. According to rumors, the release is planned for October 2025.
