As the Queen of Elden Ring beats Shadow of the Erdtree bosses to the beat of the Dance Pad, the speedrunning scene celebrates the discovery of a glitch that allows the Lightless to ‘fly by’ the most difficult areas of the Interregnum.
Prompted by content creator Distortion2 with a $10,000 speedrunning challenge, several Elden Ring enthusiasts have been competing to break the world record for the longest playtime required to complete the Lightless One’s main adventure and the odyssey experienced by those who have attempted the challenges of the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion.
Well, according to what a speedrunner discovered, it is possible to ‘break’ the game’s gravity and allow the hero to fly between the different regions of the Interregnum and the Land of Shadows by exploiting a glitch related to the animation for Torrent’s summoning. By performing certain actions with the right timing before the mount’s summoning (such as touching a Place of Grace or applying the Sleep status to your character), it is therefore possible to free the Lightless from the physics engine to allow him to ‘walk on air’ and thus be able to quickly reach the most advanced areas of the map without having to explore the main dungeons and, therefore, without having to overcome the difficult boss battles.
