The fantasy RPG Avowed from Microsoft-owned Obsidian Entertainment (Pillars of Eternity, The Outer Worlds) is set to be released in 2024, but it looks like it won’t make it in time.
Recall that the January trailer for Avowed promised a release in the fall of 2024, and the June publication mistakenly contained the release date – November 12. It was supposed to be announced at Xbox Games Showcase 2024, but for some reason they changed their minds.
How claims The Verge’s senior editor Tom Warren, citing his own sources, says Obsidian is currently preparing to announce the postponement of Avowed to early 2025.
The future delay is not related to the quality of the project: according to Warren, Avowed is in “good condition”. They allegedly want to find a more favorable release period for the game.
The recent postponement of the post-apocalyptic shooter STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl to November 20 has loaded the last month of autumn for Xbox – the GSC Game World project, like Avowed, is planned to be added to the Game Pass subscription at launch.
Warren did not specify when to expect the announcement of Avowed’s “move” to early 2025, but at the end of August the game will become part of Microsoft’s program at the gamescom 2024 exhibition – the project will have an exclusive presentation for guests of the event.
Avowed is being created for PC (SteamMicrosoft Store), Xbox Series X and S, and Game Pass. They promise a story set in the world of Eora from Pillars of Eternity, consequences for your decisions, memorable companions, and a wide range of weapons.
