The final decision on filing a lawsuit has not yet been made.
Intel may face class action lawsuit over unstable performance of top 13th and 14th generation processors. Study of the situation got busy Abington Cole + Ellery, a law firm specializing in class action lawsuits.
Owners of the latest generations of top-end Intel processors have been complaining for months about unstable operation of the chips under load, such as in games. The investigation launched by Intel also dragged on for several months.
The company eventually found out that the processors were unstable due to a bug in the microcode. A microcode update is planned, but it will only help processors that have not had problems yet – the rest are irreversibly damaged.
According to a representative for Abington Cole + Ellery, the prospects of a class action lawsuit against Intel depend largely on whether the company will easily exchange damaged processors for normal ones. If there are problems with warranty returns, the chances of a class action lawsuit will increase.
Intel does not plan to launch a recall procedure for all problematic processors; owners of problematic chips are advised to contact the company’s technical support.
