After no longer being able to compete in raw console sales figures since several previous generations, the data presented by Microsoft for their gaming ecosystem has now changed to active user figures across their various services. This shift is considered more rational by Microsoft to provide an overview of how big and crowded their ecosystem really is. We are talking about the number of Game Pass users to the number of active gamers in their gaming ecosystem, as showcased by the CEO – Satya Nadella recently in his latest financial report. Believe it or not, Microsoft Gaming reportedly reaches 500 million active users per month!
This fantastic number is said by Nadella to come from the entire Microsoft Gaming ecosystem, which means it is an accumulation of cross-platform and devices. Unfortunately, Microsoft did not talk much about the details of the distribution of games and which platforms contributed the most to the number.
But considering that they now stand on the Activision Blizzard King game library that includes games like Call of Duty from Activision, World of Warcraft from Blizzard, to Candy Crush from King on mobile devices, this number does feel rational. As an illustration, active users of Candy Crush and other King games alone were recorded to have almost reached 250 million users in 2023.
Microsoft Gaming boasts that their monthly active users have now reached 500 million users!
With an increasingly tight and robust library for their Game Pass service, including the availability of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 on day one of release, it is not impossible that this number will continue to grow. What about you? Are you still actively playing one of Microsoft Gaming’s products today?
