Gameplay Innovations in NBA 2K25 for PlayStation 5, Xbox X|S & PC
Gameplay, Powered by ProPLAY: 9,000 new ProPLAY animations have been added to “NBA 2K25,” drawing on real NBA footage to seamlessly translate real NBA moments into authentic gameplay. 1,500 dribble animations, 1,100 signature shot animations from the most used players of the 2023-24 NBA season, and more than 1,300 new off-the-ball animations, including 150 new signature motion styles. “NBA 2K25” offers the most realistic gameplay to date. All-new dribble engine: “NBA 2K25” offers one of the biggest gameplay changes in years thanks to the brand new dribble engine powered by ProPLAY. Thanks to the power of ProPLAY, the dribble engine in “NBA 2K25” generates dynamic movements from real NBA footage, creating a new, more authentic feel. This update means players will experience more realistic movements that closely match how NBA players dribble in real life. Innovations in Offense: Realism, customization and freedom are the main drivers of the updates to the “NBA 2K25” offense, which are designed for both novices and experts. Features such as Pro Stick Rhythm Shooting, Custom Visual Cues and Shot Timing Profile give players the ultimate opportunity to customize the way they throw the ball and thus weigh the risks and benefits of their decisions. Other updates include a new shot-canceling function that allows players to break out of an advanced shot and transition into a new move. In addition, the dribble breakdowns from last year have been taken a step further with the signature go-to shots. These enable dribble-into-shot combos that have been transferred directly from NBA footage – another feature powered by ProPLAY. Defense Wins Titles: NBA 2K25 features a brand new defensive cutoff system that empowers defensive players. Players can dynamically change direction with the right stick to quickly slide a player into position sideways to intercept an offensive player’s attack. The Contest System has been significantly changed and now uses a dynamic weighting system instead of a fixed system that evaluates the impact of defense at the start of the shot versus release and calculates the correct coverage effect accordingly. AI Gameplay: AI has been improved across all platforms to play a complementary role, with updates in court spacing, offense, defense, coaching and AI difficulty to improve the overall gaming experience. Learn 2K: NBA 2K25 includes a new Learn 2K mode that allows players to learn all the mechanics in 2K from the basics to advanced moves. Whether they want to practice the new rhythm shooting, learn hundreds of new moves, or play mini-games, drills, or training scenarios, Learn 2K is a learning tool in “NBA 2K25” to make the game more accessible to everyone.
