NZXT, a company primarily known for its cases and liquid cooling systems, as well as motherboards, has been renting out pre-built gaming computers equipped with powerful GeForce RTX graphics accelerators for several months now. The program is called FlexThe company is ready to physically provide a gaming PC to the user for a certain monthly fee.
NZXT’s Flex program offers three subscription levels and one of three gaming builds: Player: One Flex, Player: Two Flex, or Player: Three Flex. Monthly rentals for a gaming PC start at $59. There are no long-term commitments or termination fees.
The company does not offer the option to buy out a PC over time. This is a rental. In the event of a system or its components breaking down due to the user’s fault, the latter will have to compensate for the damage. If the breakdown is not due to his fault, NZXT will cover all expenses. As part of the rental program, NZXT undertakes to update the components of the rented PCs every two years. Thus, the systems will not become obsolete.
The $59 per month Player: One Flex subscription includes a system based on an Intel Core i5-14400F (10 cores, 16 threads, up to 4.7 GHz), 16 GB of DDR5 RAM, a GeForce RTX 4060 graphics card, and a 500 GB M.2 SSD. All of this is assembled in an NZXT H5 case. Previously, this configuration included a Core i5-12400F processor and a GeForce RTX 3050.
The Player: Two Flex subscription costs $119 per month and offers a system with an AMD Ryzen 5 5600X (6 cores, 12 threads, 4.6 GHz), 16 GB of DDR4-3200 RAM, a GeForce RTX 4070 Super graphics card, and a 1 TB M.2 SSD in an NZXT H5 Elite case. Previously, the build included the same processor, but the GeForce RTX 4070 graphics card was not the Super one.
The third tier of the Player: Three Flex subscription costs $169 and offers a PC based on the Core i7-13700KF (16 cores, 24 threads, up to 5.4 GHz), with 32 GB of DDR5-5600 RAM, a GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super graphics card, and a 1 TB M.2 SSD in an H7 Flow case. Previously, the GeForce RTX 4070 was offered here. All three configurations are available in white or black.
For approximately two years of PC rental under the Player: One Flex subscription, the user will pay $1,416. A Player: Two Flex subscription for the same period will cost $2,856, and renting a gaming PC under the Player: Three Flex subscription will cost $4,096. It should be added that at the start of the rental program, the subscription fee for the first and second options was $49 and $109, that is, it was $10 cheaper.
According to the HotHardware portal, it will be cheaper to assemble computers with such characteristics yourself. The cost of a configuration with a Player: One Flex subscription is currently $829, the second-level configuration will cost $1,599, and the third-level configuration will cost $2,299.
