The TV series is coming to an end, but Cobra Kai creators Hayden Schlossberg, Josh Heald and Jon Hurwitz don’t seem quite ready to say goodbye to the world of karate. The Hollywood Reporter recently spoke to them about the possibility of getting more spin-offs in the future, and Schlossberg responded:
“Absolutely! We’re constantly thinking about spinoffs with Cobra Kai. Cobra Kai itself is a spinoff of The Karate Kid in some ways. We took the bully from ‘The Karate Kid,’ we took that branch and made it our own tree, and we feel like we could do that with any of the characters in the show. We’ve definitely thought about it, as we connect things with all the characters. We think about how fun it is to follow them in their future, and beyond that, we think about the past. That’s one of the reasons we did the Miyagi boxing storyline this season. It raises all these questions about Mr. Miyagi and his life, and that’s something we’ve wanted to do for some time.”
When asked if they would make a series specifically about Mr. Miyagi, Schlossenberg replied:
“I would say that we definitely want to do that and have talked about it.”
