It took developer micah64 just six days to recreate the Pillars of Argonath from The Lord of the Rings in Unreal Engine 5.4. The result, let’s be honest, was extremely impressive, and the developer even claimed that the scene can be rendered in real time on an RTX 3080 Ti at 30-50 frames per second.
And this is provided that the project uses hardware Lumen and many high-poly objects with Nanite. Also, the water in the scene is fully dynamic and reacts automatically with the geometry of the surrounding objects.
At the moment, this project weighs in at an impressive 100 gigabytes, which makes it clearly unsuitable for open access release. The developer plans to recreate other locations from the Lord of the Rings universe, and Unreal Engine 5.4 will help him with this.
