Imagining yourself to be at an economic level with a wide source of income that makes you no longer need to think about daily needs and start considering all the tertiary things that you can buy and enjoy every month is certainly a dream for many people. Especially when we see the existence of giant company executives who are even able to take this hobby to a higher level, which requires costs that are so large that even the employees never imagined it. When this situation is combined with mass layoffs that hit the company, then the Bungie Studios case is what you find.
Bungie Studios has just announced a mass layoff with around 220 employees or 17% of the total workforce affected. The situation is getting more heated with so much criticism coming out when it was discovered that the big boss of Bungie Studios himself – Parsons has reportedly been splurging since being acquired by Sony. Instead of fixing Bungie’s unhealthy finances, he has reportedly been shopping for a classic car collection since being acquired by Sony for USD 3.8 billion in 2022. Parsons is claimed to have spent around USD 2.4 million or around 40 billion Rupiah on this hobby. Unsurprisingly, the cries for Parsons to step down as CEO of Bungie have grown stronger.

The cries to resign did not only come from external sources, but also internal employees who questioned Parsons’ ability to lead Bungie. Moreover, Parsons had promised that Bungie would no longer lay off employees after being acquired by Sony. What do you think about this situation?
