In honor of the upcoming release of the pre-patch The War Within, the World of Warcraft developers have decided to hold a free weekend that will last from August 1 to 5.
Jump back into the fight during the Welcome Weekend
The War Within is just around the corner—gather your friends and prepare to descend into the depths of Azeroth to face Xal’atath, Harbinger of the Void. From August 1st through August 5th, we’re giving all players with inactive World of Warcraft accounts full access to the game and all of your characters, without a subscription or game time.
Intrepid adventurers will be able to access all expansions, including Dragonflight, and play the latest content, including the Radiant Echoes pre-patch event.
Join your guild, gather your party, and get ready to explore a whole new world deep within Azeroth, and prepare for The War Within, which launches globally on August 27, 2024 at 00:00 UTC.

If you’ve been away for a while, you can play through the newbie adventures starting at level 1 to get your bearings. You can also skip the newbie adventure and start at level 1 in your race’s starting zone. Once you reach level 10, you can continue playing Dragonflight or speak to Chromie to choose the Timewalking campaign.
Choose the expansion and continue leveling until you are ready to enter Kaz Algar at level 70 with the release of The War Within. Allied Race characters start at level 10. Death Knights and Demon Hunters who are not Allied Races automatically start at level 8 and participate in their own initial adventures, reaching level 10 by the end of which.
If you want to choose a different campaign, just talk to Chromie again. In the second phase of the pre-patch The War Within, Timewalking campaigns will be expanded to level 70 and will include Dragonflight.
