Gothic 1 Remake also made a comeback at the THQ Nordic Showcase, with a trailer that shows the game’s features in detail, also attesting to the technical evolutions applied based on the original.
The game in question is a faithful remake of the original created by Piranha Bytes and released in 2001: it is an open world action RPG characterized by a very vast setting to explore, at least for the time, but with an effect that seems to have been well replicated in this technically remade version.
The new trailer serves primarily as a general presentation of the game world and its main features, which are quite peculiar and determine the particular system of forces at play in the world of Gothic.
The peculiarities of the island
The whole thing is based on an island called Khorinis, where there is a mine of a precious raw material that is essential for the main kingdom.
In order to extract the magic metal, a penal colony was built where prisoners are forced to work in the mines.
In an attempt to create a barrier that would prevent them from escaping, the spell fails and creates a major incident that destroys the balance of the island: the entire territory ends up inside the barrier, which causes the prisoners to escape and total chaos in the organization of the territory.
The world of Gothic 1 Remake is thus divided between different settlements in precarious balance with each other, and with different characteristics in terms of society, organization and economy. The protagonist of the story is a prisoner who, in an attempt to escape, finds himself involved in the power games between the different settlements, also having to choose which side to take.
These elements and others are explained in the trailer for Gothic 1 Remake, which also reports how the developers have dedicated themselves to building a particularly lively world, in which NPCs engage in numerous activities during the day and others during the night.
A year after the trailer focused on the Old Camp, the game is back today, awaiting information on the release date for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
