Today, August 2, 2024, is an important day for the PlayStation world. It is precisely today, in fact, that a prominent figure like Ken Kutaragi turns birthday.
The famous Japanese computer scientist and inventor turns 74 today. For those who don’t know who we’re talking about, Kutaragi is very popular among video game enthusiasts for a very simple reason: he is the figure who is often and willingly considered the ‘father’ of PlayStation. Ken Kutaragi played a central role in the creation of the first Sony video game console, which as you well know came onto the market in 1994 and was incredibly successful, so much so that he became president of the Entertainment division of the Japanese giant.
Kutaragi held this position for 13 years, since he resigned in December 2006, when he handed over the baton to another well-known figure, Kaz Hirai. This does not mean that Kutaragi has completely disappeared from the scene, since he continues to serve as honorary president of Sony and enjoys great popularity among members of the community.
