Disney and Pixar’s Inside Out 2 continues its triumphant march through cinemas around the world. After nearly two months, the sequel’s box office receipts have reached $1.524 billion, making it the tenth most successful film in history.
The charming project about the girl Riley and her emotions has surpassed such blockbusters as Furious 7 and The Avengers. It is unlikely to take first place, but it may well surpass The Lion King and take ninth place – the premiere in Japan has just taken place.
The top 10 highest-grossing films in history are now:
Avatar (2009) — $2.924 billion. Avengers: Endgame (2019) — $2.799 billion. Avatar: The Path of Water (2022) — $2.320 billion. Titanic (1997) — $2.265 billion. Inside Out 2’s most profitable markets were the United States (nearly $620 million), Mexico (more than $100 million) and Brazil (nearly $80 million). In the latter, it now tops the all-time list.
This is not her first achievement that will remain in the history of cinema. Just over a week ago, she became the highest-grossing animated film in the world, overtaking Frozen 2. And even earlier, she became the fastest cartoon to reach a billion. It took Riley and Anxiety only 19 days to overcome this landmark.
