Microsoft has announced that it will soon increase the price of the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S gaming consoles in Japan. This is the second price increase in 2024, with the last price increase occurring in January 2024. The announcement states that the price change is happening because Microsoft “regularly evaluates the impact of changing market conditions on local pricing.”
New Xbox Series X | S prices in Japan starting August 15, 2024:
Xbox Series X – ¥66,978 (was ¥59,978, up ¥7,000) Xbox Series S 1TB (Black) – ¥49,978 (was ¥44,578, up ¥5,400) Xbox Series S 512GB – ¥44,578 (was ¥37,978, up ¥6,600)
In January 2024, the Xbox team increased the prices of the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S by exactly 5,000 yen. So the current increase is more significant.
Recall that sales of Xbox Series X | S consoles in Japan are several times higher than the results of Xbox One. Microsoft recently closed its only Japanese game studio, Tango Gameworks, and then it became known that the company will not attend Tokyo Game Show this year.
