Paradox has announced that it has delayed Prison Architect 2 for the third time just weeks before its release. The game was originally scheduled to launch on September 3 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, but the publisher is currently holding back on a new release date.
The reason is that the developers need a significant amount of time to complete work on the game, especially after the feedback from the latest internal tests showed that the game needs to “improve both performance and content quality”.
Paradox’s words
“We have some difficult news to share: unfortunately, we will not be releasing Prison Architect 2 on September 3rd because we need to improve both the performance and content of the game. The statement announcing the delay reads. “Our internal reviews and beta testing groups have highlighted that there are areas of the game that need to be improved to ensure you have the best possible experience in Prison Architect 2.”
“At this stage, we cannot commit to a new release date, as we need to reassess the scope of work that needs to be done before the game is ready for release. Over the next few months, we will be focusing on improving the game and building a more robust release schedule. This also means that we will be limiting communication with all of you until we have a timeline we are comfortable with.”
“This decision is in line with our commitment here at Paradox to review and improve the quality of the content we publish. We believe that delaying Prison Architect 2 is the best path forward for the game, allowing us more time to deliver a high-quality experience that honors the legacy of Prison Architect.”
As mentioned at the beginning, this is the third delay for Prison Architect 2 in a few months. The launch was initially scheduled for March 26, then it was moved to May 7 and then to September 3. Now the game doesn’t even have a specific release date, a sign that the problems encountered by internal tests could be quite impactful, with the hope that they will be resolved soon.
