It’s rare in the gaming industry to see projects that take years, sometimes almost two decades, to develop. War of the Worlds: Siberia is an ambitious action game that reimagines H.G. Wells’ classic work, taking into account Russian history of the late 19th century.
The first video diary of the game developers was recently presented, dedicated to an important aspect of any narrative project – the script. The main scriptwriter Sergey Burkatovsky spoke about the features of creating a plot and the key moments of its development.
Back in 2005, an amazing idea was born, which went through many transformations and iterations. The developers tried to attract third-party authors for creative work, but their vision did not match the team’s ambitions. As a result, Burkatovsky took on the responsibility of creating a unique story.
The events of the game “World Wars: Siberia” unfolded in 1889, when the Martians invaded Russia. In the panic and chaos of Petrograd, several heroes try to survive and escape the apocalypse.
The plot is centered not so much on the threat from aliens as on the fates of the characters who find themselves in the very center of what is happening.
