GTA 6 is also coming to Xbox Series S, but it may have some problems handling the limited capabilities of Microsoft’s console. Digital Foundry talks about ray tracing and resolution.
Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA 6)
GTA 6 continues to be one of the hottest topics of the period, even though Rockstar Games has been radio silent on the project for some time. However, Digital Foundry, the well-known magazine dedicated to technical analysis of video games, is talking about it.
Specifically, DF shared a comment related to the Xbox Series S version of GTA 6, explaining that he had doubts about the game’s resolution.
Digital Foundry’s commentary on GTA 6
The team explains that Grand Theft Auto VI looked great in the trailer, in terms of the quality of the details and ray-tracing effects, and this means that the Xbox Series S will struggle to maintain a high resolution.
Digital Foundry predicts 720p on Series S

Their prediction, as experts on the subject, is that GTA 6 won’t be able to easily go beyond 720p while keeping the ray tracing effects seen in the trailer active. Why not disable them to lighten the game’s load? It’s not that simple according to Digital Foundry, as the lighting effects are an integral part of the game’s look and would require an entire art rework for the Xbox Series S version, which obviously isn’t possible.
Of course, we don’t know how Rockstar Games will handle Microsoft’s “minor” console, and what Digital Foundry says is just a consideration, but we can assume that the Xbox Series S version of GTA 6 will have to make some compromises, since every high-level game to date has had to do the same. The platform is weaker than the Xbox Series X and PS5, and there’s no way it can work miracles.
Still talking about the Rockstar Games saga, it turned out that most GTA Online players are still on PS4: GTA 6 could be what Sony needs.
