We haven’t heard anything about Ark 2, the new game from Studio Wildcard and Grove Street Games, for a while now. We only know that the game should be coming to Early Access by the end of the year. Fans were therefore very happy to hear that the game would be appearing at Gamescom on Xbox kiosks.
Too bad Microsoft then deleted the announcement.
Microsoft’s announcement about Ark 2
“Ark 2 was originally listed as playable on Xbox consoles – this mention was made in error and has been removed,” reads the editor’s note at the bottom of Microsoft’s official post.
Ark 2 isn’t much more than a trailer with Vin Diesel riding a dinosaur at the moment. Hopefully we’ll hear more about it soon, as the game was announced four years ago and has already missed its initial release window, which was set for 2023.
According to 2022 U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission data, Microsoft paid $2.3 million to make Ark 2 exclusive to Game Pass for three years.
The first Ark is a popular multiplayer sandbox game about dinosaurs. Its remaster, Survival Ascended, is still in early access and receiving regular updates, but it is obviously not a new game and fans are eager to know if Ark 2 will be a worthy sequel.
