Star Wars and Star Trek have been at the top of the sci-fi universe for years. At least in terms of revenue, the two brands are among the absolute flagship concepts. But Star Wars in particular has been confronted with a lot of criticism recently, and not just because of its cinema comeback.
For example, the video games based on Star Wars have made negative headlines from time to time. At least series projects such as Obi-Wan Kenobi, The Acolyte and Andor have managed to escape the scandal unscathed. However, HBO is currently working on a worthy contender for the crown of sci-fi series.
When did Dune come to theaters?
This is thanks to the return of Dune. On September 16, 2021, the film featuring stars like Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya hit the big screen. Part 2 followed in Germany on February 29, 2024 and, just like its predecessor, was convincing in almost every respect.
To this day, the ratings on websites such as Rotten Tomatoes are impressive. However, the box office receipts were probably even more important, especially for the sequel. It’s no wonder that there have been discussions about the next film in the Dune universe ever since.
Dune 2 will not be followed by a third film, but rather a brand new HBO series. In addition to House of the Dragon, the company recently attracted attention with the television adaptation of The Last of Us. Now a new image from the Dune series is circulating on the Internet.

The release for Dune: Prophecy is planned for the fall on Max. However, it remains unclear when exactly the TV series will be released episode by episode.

The official Max account posted a new picture of the production on Twitter. It features Tula Harkonen, played by Olivia Williams. Naturally, expectations for the project are enormous. The success of the films has probably fueled anticipation for the HBO project, as well as the longing for a third movie. However, how successful the series will ultimately be remains to be seen.
