Intel 4 technology will be a passing stage for the company.
In today’s reality, not all Intel brand processors are fully manufactured by the company itself, since some of their elements are entrusted to be processed by TSMC, and in the case of the Lunar Lake processor crystals presented in September, they will be fully manufactured by this Taiwanese company. It is used to produce one of the dies included in Meteor Lake processors, which is why the company is currently unable to supply them in sufficient quantities to customers.

Due to the urgent need to increase the number of Meteor Lake produced, the company’s production costs are growing. It is assumed that this reason was one of the factors that prompted Intel to accelerate the transfer of production of products using Intel 4 and Intel 3 technologies from the lab in Oregon to the conveyor of the Fab 34 plant in Ireland. It is also alarming that Intel 4 technology is not used in the production of components for Xeon server processors. They will be based on the more advanced Intel 3. It is possible that Intel 4 will turn out to be a “passable” option for the company, and in the coming months it will focus on orders for the production of Lunar Lake and Arrow Lake processors, which will be almost entirely manufactured by TSMC.
