When NetherRealm announced Mortal Kombat 1’s Khaos Reigns DLC, they also confirmed the voice actors for Ghostface (Scream) and the T-1000 (Terminator 2: Judgement Day), Roger L. Jackson and Robert Patrick, respectively. Unfortunately, they didn’t do the same for Conan, although there’s still some speculation on that.
The studio led by Ed Boon has always had difficulties with Arnold Schwarzenegger, since it was not even able to involve him in Mortal Kombat 11 for the Terminator T-800. The story risks repeating itself also for Conan the Barbarian, one of the six additional characters of the future DLC Khaos Reigns, since the legendary American actor of Austrian origin continues to be desired.
Ed Boon, however, does not intend to give up easily, and is still working to get Schwarzenegger to collaborate on the voice of the crossover fighter Conan the Barbarian. Asked about the matter during the San Diego Comic-Con last week, Boon said: “I don’t know yet. We couldn’t get him for Terminator, it’s always been a challenge. There are so many variables, we’re constantly talking to them. (…) So, you know, fingers crossed”. We can only wish Boon & co. good luck in the negotiations with Schwarzenegger’s entourage. His possible participation, we are sure, would make any Mortal Kombat player happy.
Khaos Reigns, as a reminder, will launch on September 24, 2024 with a new storyline centered on the Titan villain Havik and three additional fighters available right away, namely the new versions of Sektor, Cyrax, and Noob Saibot. The remaining three fighters – Ghostface from Scream, the T-1000 from Terminator 2: Judgment Day, and Conan the Barbarian – will arrive at a later date. Alongside the DLC, Animality, a kill mechanic well-known to Mortal Kombat veterans, will also be reintroduced for free to everyone.
