What will you be playing this weekend? There are plenty of options once again, with one surprise in particular that may have changed the plans of many users: the surprise launch of Valorant on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, which took place yesterday.
The free-to-play shooter developed by Riot Games needs no introduction, as it made its debut on PC exactly four years ago and has grown steadily since then, introducing new content, updates and improvements.
All of these are aspects that PlayStation and Xbox users will be able to enjoy, as the console edition of Valorant will guarantee absolute parity in terms of updates and will offer the exact same experience that has won over so many players on Steam.
The only thing missing will be the crossplay functionality, but this is for a very specific reason: to avoid the traditional balancing problems that arise from the use of different control systems, and which can give clear advantages to one side or the other during online matches.
It wasn’t that colorful
If the launch of Valorant on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S has left you cold and you’re perhaps looking for a more colorful experience this weekend, we have at least a couple of suggestions for you: Tombi! Special Edition and Thank Goodness You’re Here!
The first is a re-release of the PlayStation classic originally released in 1997, this time powered by Limited Run Games’ Carbon Engine: the perfect engine for bringing past games back to current platforms.
Featuring instant saves, rewind functionality, optional analog controls, a remastered soundtrack, and plenty of nostalgic extras, Tombi! Special Edition is sure to keep you coming back for more after all this time.
If you’ve read our review of Thank Goodness You’re Here!, you’ll know that Coal Supper’s original “mischief simulator” is also a great option for anyone looking to spend a relaxing weekend without missing out on a few laughs.
Yes, because the situations that the game will continue to catapult us into, within its short but intense campaign, are absolutely absurd and out of this world, and will surely make you smile: an extra not to be underestimated, especially in these times.
So what are you playing this weekend? New games or something you’ve already got your hands on? Are there any great recoveries? Is the backlog healthy? Let us know.
