In a crackling THQ Nordic Showcase that served as the backdrop to the announcement of the new Darksiders chapter and several other World Premieres (from Gothic Remake to Titan Quest 2), racing game fans were treated to the digital chaos wrought by the Wreckfest 2 Reveal Trailer.
The new chapter of the famous ‘destructive’ driving experience by Bugbear Entertainment aims to please fans of FlatOut and Destruction Derby with even more immediate and in-depth gameplay, with ‘full contact’ races enhanced by a more advanced physics engine.
The innovations brought by the Bugbear team to the physics engine will be reflected in races full of twisted sheet metal and chaos, with deformed bodywork and an infinite number of obstacles to overcome before crossing the finish line or ending head-to-head challenges prematurely with a final engine failure or the loss of tires.
Between jumps, intersections and dented vehicles, fans of the series will be able to enjoy a completely revamped Career mode and a multiplayer experience based on a revised and corrected matchmaking system based on skills and server queues. Of particular interest is the addition of a Split Screen mode to compete in local challenges to the latest bodywork.
Wreckfest 2 is in development on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S: while we wait to discover the launch date of the new chapter in this popular racing series, we invite you to retrace its history by reading our review of Wreckfest.
