The second season of House of the Dragon is almost complete. And although fans have to be careful not to be spoiled by leaks currently circulating on the Internet, the hype is still huge. After all, the parent series Game of Thrones is one of the most successful and biggest fantasy series of all time.
It’s no wonder, then, that after House of the Dragon, many more spin-offs from the world of ice and fire are planned. In an interview, the creator of the novel series, George RR Martin, has now given exciting insights into the seven new spin-off series that are planned after House of the Dragon.
How many seasons of House of the Dragon are there?
The second season of the exceptional series House of the Dragon is currently airing on TV. But the eight new episodes are far from the end of the prequel series to Game of Thrones. A total of four seasons of House of the Dragon are planned, and they are set to be released over the next few years.
The third season is set to start in 2026. But if you don’t want to wait that long, you don’t have to! Next year, there will be new additions from the world of ice and fire. That’s when the spin-off series “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms” will be broadcast. And even after that, the new additions to Game of Thrones will be a long way from over.
As the author of the novel, George RR Martin, has now confirmed, seven more series are in the works. But which ones are they exactly and how do they relate to Game of Thrones?

Seven more Game of Thrones spin-offs in the works!
While the information about the second spin-off series “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms” is becoming more and more concrete and a release date has now even been announced, there is even more good news from the Game of Thrones world: As author George RR Martin confirmed in a talk with fans in Oxford, seven new series for Game of Thrones are currently in the works.
Three of them will be live-action, with real actors and sets. The other four are planned as animated series. So far we know the names of four of the seven series: Aegon’s Conquest (live-action) will be about the conquest of Westeros by Aegon I and his dragons. The second live-action series is called “Ten Thousand Ships” and will tell the story of the Rhoynian War between Valyria and the Rhoynar and will take place over 1000 years before the events of Game of Thrones.
The animated series “Nine Voyages of the Sea Snake” will introduce us to the nine voyages of Corlys Velaryon, who we already know from House of the Dragon. The last known series, “Golden Empire of Yi Ti”, is probably about the Yi Ti tribes living far to the east and is also said to be animated.
What is the name of the sequel to Game of Thrones?
The successor to Game of Thrones is called House of the Dragon. The fantasy series tells the story of House Targaryen and the dance of the dragons. In addition to the series just mentioned, George RR Martin also confirmed that three more spin-off series to Game of Thrones are in the works, but they don’t have names yet.
Two of them will be animated series, one will be filmed in live action. It is not yet known when exactly the series will start. So there is enough supply from the world of ice and fire. Nevertheless, it is quite possible that not all series will actually appear. After the eighth season of the parent series, for example, there was long speculation about a separate series about Jon Snow, which ultimately came to nothing.
