At the beginning of the year, things weren’t looking good for the MCU. The Marvels, the 33rd film in Disney’s superhero universe, turned out to be a massive flop. The predecessor, Captain Marvel, grossed a whopping $1.131 billion thanks to the hype surrounding Avengers: Endgame. The sequel, starring Oscar winner Brie Larson, only grossed $206 million at the international box office.
Deadpool & Wolverine is so successful
With this record flop as a burden, Marvel started the cinema year 2024, in which only one superhero film from the MCU will be released. But it is a big deal. Despite its R rating (in Germany from 16 – all information here), Deadpool 3 is well on its way to becoming the second brilliant billion-dollar hit for Disney this year.
Deadpool & Wolverine has already grossed over 700 million US dollars worldwide, and the exact figures for the previous weekend are usually announced on Mondays. Deadpool 3 may be extremely successful, but Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds’ MCU debut cannot keep up with the numbers of Avengers: Endgame. But Deadpool and Wolverine help another Marvel hero to set a unique record.

When will the new Blade be in theaters?
Next year, Disney has four Marvel films planned that are supposed to give the new Superman film a run for its money. One of them is the reboot of Blade, which is set to be released on November 6, 2025. Until then, however, an old acquaintance made his comeback in Deadpool 3 (warning, a mini spoiler follows).
Source: Warner Wesley Snipes together with Ryan Reynolds and Jessica Biel in Blade: Trinity (2004) This is Wesley Snipes in his signature role as a vampire-hunting anti-hero. Thanks to Deadpool 3, the now 62-year-old action star set several records. At almost 26 years old, Wesley Snipes as Blade holds the world record for the longest-lasting Marvel career, ahead of Hugh Jackman as Wolverine. But that’s not all.
There are almost 20 years between Blade: Trinity (2004) and Deadpool & Wolverine. This is the longest break for a Marvel star between two movies. However, Oscar winner Mahershala Ali will play the lead role in the new Blade. Are you happy with this choice? Let us know in the comments.
