The serial production of Nvidia Blackwell computing accelerators will begin later than the original deadline. This was reported by The Information, citing its own sources. It is claimed that Nvidia has notified its major customers, in particular Meta, Google and Microsoft, about the delay in deliveries of Blackwell AI accelerators. It is worth adding that the “greens” have already begun shipping pre-production samples of the new products to their partners.
It is reported that the reason for the delay in the start of mass production of Nvidia’s new AI accelerators was a design flaw in the Blackwell processor. As a result, the company will need about three more months to fix it and launch the conveyor, which is why large-scale deliveries of new devices will not begin until the first quarter of 2025.
There is currently no official information regarding the delay of Nvidia Blackwell accelerators. “As we have stated previously, demand for Hopper is very high. Blackwell samples have already started shipping, and production will ramp up in the second half of the year. In addition, we do not comment on rumors,” an Nvidia representative told WCCFTech.
In any case, Blackwell AI accelerators don’t have a firm release date. Officially, Nvidia planned to start mass shipments in the second half of this year, and the “green guys” still have time to achieve this goal.
