Lara Croft has been experiencing all kinds of adventures in the “Tomb Raider” series since 1996. Now the defensive archaeologist is getting her own tabletop game.
This week, the official X-Account The game “Tomb Raider: The Crypt of Chronos” has been announced for the “Tomb Raider” brand. After several films and a planned anime series, the series is now getting an analog game adaptation.
It is being developed by the Iconiq studio. The board game developers from London have previously created analogue versions of some famous horror franchises. In addition to an “Evil Dead” card game, the portfolio also includes board games based on John Carpenter’s “They Live” from 1988 and even a planned adaptation of “Saw”. This is due to be released in 2024.
With “The Crypt of Chronos” the game is now moving away from the horror templates. Not much is known about the story that the game is supposed to tell. Lara goes to a faraway island in search of an ancient artifact. There, all kinds of puzzles have to be solved and traps avoided. The description of the game also mentions an enemy from the past. Who this might be is not yet known.
The Crypt of Chronos can also be experienced alone
If you don’t have any other players on hand or would rather watch the adventure alone, you can still play the board game version. Iconiq emphasizes that “The Crypt of Chronos” is designed in such a way that it is also attractive for solo players. It is interesting that the information so far reveals that you can play with several people, but no upper limit is given. The published photos only show a “1+” number of players.
As far as gameplay is concerned, it is known that players will primarily work cooperatively. So it is not about defeating the others, but rather about working together to uncover secrets and find the hidden artifact.

Die Kickstarter Campaign of “Tomb Raider: The Crypt of Chronos” has already been created, but the start of the campaign is currently pending.
