The first part of the franchise collected 875 million rubles over the weekend.
The opening box office receipts for the film “Deadpool and Wolverine” in Russia amounted to about 217 million rubles, counted in the Film Distributor’s Bulletin. The film was not officially released in Russia, but it is shown at pre-screening services.
The level of box office receipts for such films can be estimated by the income of short films, before which Western films are shown. We assumed that on the first day alone, Deadpool and Wolverine earned at least 85 million rubles in Russia.
According to the Film Distributor Bulletin, the film is being shown in at least 216 Russian cinemas. If the data is correct, then Deadpool and Wolverine has started significantly worse than previous parts of the franchise.
The record belongs to the first Deadpool: it collected 875 million rubles in Russia on its first weekend. The sequel had a worse start, earning only 655 million rubles on its first weekend.
Deadpool and Wolverine have grossed over $824 million worldwide.
