Aoostar has unveiled a $149 docking station that lets you connect an external graphics card to your laptop or mini PC. The compact device supports high-speed OCuLink and Lenovo TGX interfaces and even has a built-in power supply.
Aoostar AG01 is a small box measuring 22.5 x 11 x 6 cm and weighing 1.6 kg. There are no additional USB or M.2 SSD slots. The manufacturer focused only on the ability to connect graphics accelerators. Aoostar AG01 supports the OCuLink interface with a speed of up to 64 Gbps for eGPU, which is compatible with the Lenovo TGX standard with the ability to hot-swap a video card. Moreover, the expensive OCuLink cable is already included in the package.
The built-in 400W power supply is designed to connect video cards up to 250W. Therefore, video cards no older than AMD Radeon RX 7700 XT and Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 are recommended for the docking station.
Previously, Minisforum offered its compact version of the eGPU dock for $100, but without a built-in power supply. Therefore, the Aoostar AG01 looks like a very attractive offer in this segment of devices.
