Some cutscenes are recreated very closely to the text.
The THQ Nordic Showcase presentation showed gameplay of the Gothic remake, which has been in development for several years by the Spanish studio Alkimia Interactive. YouTuber Cycu1 showed how much the remake differs from the original game.
All the graphics for the remake were created anew, but the developers tried to preserve continuity as much as possible. This is evident both in the cutscenes and simply in the game world, if you look at it from above.
Although the layout of the world and locations remained more or less the same, the amount of detail has increased greatly. Numerous gorges, houses, mines and camps are well-designed: the developers added many small assets, scattered stones here and there, planted grass, scattered garbage.
It is noteworthy that preserving the layout did not prevent the game world of the Gothic remake from being made somewhat larger than the original. But we can probably not count on the appearance of completely new locations – the old ones will simply expand a little.
The Gothic remake will be released on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series no later than March 31, 2025.
