The Swiss indie studio Stardust is showing its charming farming and roguelite game “Grimoire Groves” on the Nintendo Switch for the first time at Gamescom. At Gamescom from August 21 to 25, you can accompany the witch trainee Primrose on her journey through the magical forest of “Grimoire Groves” and experience lively adventures with magical plant beings, mythical creatures and non-violent action roguelite gameplay.
You can find “Grimoire Groves” at the Indie Arena Booth in Hall 10.2, Stand F010g – E019.
“Grimoire Groves” combines the cozy farming aspect of games like “Animal Crossing” with familiar roguelite and dungeon crawler mechanics from games like “Cult of the Lamb” and “Hades.” But with a unique twist: Instead of eliminating enemies, you use magic to nurture plant creatures and befriend mythical creatures that live in the forests. You can also unlock a wide range of different magical spells to complete your grimoire. By combining different spells, you learn to master the four elements in your own unique way and explore different biomes and their complex levels in which you can prove your skills.
“Unlike many other games in this genre, Grimoire Groves is not about an impending apocalypse, but simply a sweet story about friendship.”
Tabea Iseli, founder and designer of Stardust
“Grimoire Groves” tells a moving story that will touch you on an emotional level. Who would have thought that the classic, repetitive trips into the dungeon would be a fitting metaphor for social issues such as conflict resolution and self-acceptance?
“Grimoire Groves” is scheduled to be released in spring 2025 for PC and later for the Nintendo Switch.
