It’s the oldest joke in the video game industry: Half-Life 3. There are numerous mysteries and rumors surrounding the next part of Valve’s shooter series, but the game isn’t even officially in development yet. Now something is happening again.
This time, leaker and data miner Tyler McVicker went in search of clues to a possible Half-Life 3. He found them and shared his findings with the world in a detailed video.

The ball was set rolling by a voice actress’s project list. Project White Sands appeared in it, which was directly associated with Valve. The entry has of course disappeared again, but the Internet never forgets. The name of the project could also be a clue, because White Sands is a national park in New Mexico. This is also where the Black Mesa facility is located, which is of course very well known to Half-Life fans.
Thanks to Tyler McVicker’s datamining efforts, Project White Sands can also be linked to Project HLX, which caused a stir in the community in 2021, as some of his findings can be linked to what he clearly sees as Half-Life 3.
His leaks show that the character from HLX, or Project White Sands, wears a HEV suit. In addition, the code of various Source 2 projects that he examined includes workers, manhacks, Xen gorillas and more. These are all objects and characters from the Half-Life universe.
As always, all information should be treated with caution. But an announcement of Half-Life 3 would be a nice gift for Half-Life 2’s birthday, as the title is celebrating its 20th anniversary in November.
