As you may remember, at the time of Cuphead’s release, there was a lot of joke about the difficulty of Studio MDHR’s title, often compared to Dark Souls for its high level of challenge. Taking advantage of the not-so-sensible comparisons between the two productions, someone thought it would be a good idea to create a sort of mix.
We are talking about ToonSouls, a game whose Steam page indicates that it is coming to the Early Access version. As you can see from the trailer and the images, it is a two-dimensional platformer whose graphic style is strongly inspired by that of Cuphead (with the due differences in terms of quality and artistic direction), with some references to Dark Souls and, more generally, to medieval fantasy.
From what little we know, it seems to be a 2D platformer with procedurally generated missions, so as to offer the player a constant challenge. In addition to having to dodge traps, the protagonist knight can throw a series of spears at enemies, just like in the timeless Ghosts ‘n Goblins.
At least for now, not many other details are known about the title, but regardless of the quality of the final product, it is likely to attract the attention of a lot of gamers upon release.
