NCSOFT announced an investment in South Korean studio Vic Game Studios, which has developed the turn-based RPG Black Clover M: Rise Of The Wizard King. The investment amounted to 37 billion won, which at the current exchange rate exceeds 27 million US dollars. NCSOFT received global publishing rights to BREAKERS: Unlock The World, as well as a stake in the company.
“We look forward to working with NCSOFT as a business partner based on Vic Game Studios’ first original IP. Through close cooperation, we will bring BREAKERS: Unlock The World to gamers around the world,” said Choi Jae-yong, CEO of Vic Game Studios. “With recent domestic and foreign investments, the provision of new IP promised at the beginning of this year has entered the full implementation stage. We view the publication of BREAKERS: Unlock The World as an opportunity to expand our game portfolio. By combining our capabilities and development experience, we will bring innovative games to the global market,” said Park Byung-moo, CEO of NCSOFT.
Vic Game Studios, founded in 2020, is currently developing BREAKERS: Unlock The World, announced in September 2023. The developers describe the project as an “animated RPG” because the gameplay will resemble “an anime game.” Our portal previously published a translation of an interview with the developers, conducted by the Inven portal during Tokyo Game Show 2023.
This is not the first investment this year for Vic Game Studios. In May 2024, Japanese entertainment group Kadokawa invested at least US$14.6 million in the studio.
