Many old series and film universes are experiencing a second spring. With Star Trek, this is rather doubtful, given projects such as the dystopian Section 31. The results for the big competitor Star Wars are mixed: Mandalorian, Bad Batch and similar projects appeal to many, while Obi-Wan and the relatively new The Acolyte are less so. Then there are those franchises that fans have been waiting for for years to see revived. Stargate is one such universe. Even though Amazon now owns the brand, fans are left with only interlocking bricks from Bluebrixx as a consolation. Lord of the Rings fans get both: new series and film fodder – and on top of that, promising Lego models or their alternatives.
Rings of Power will be released in 4 weeks: Waiting time for films longer
At the end of the month, on August 29th, the Amazon series “The Rings of Power” will start. Strictly speaking, it is already the second season. The first is almost two years old, but was not necessarily one of the most popular book adaptations. Season 2 is now set to fix things, with a few surprises and a major reshuffle. Sauron himself is still played by the same actor, although his appearance has changed. He is far from defeated. The aim is to prevent the rise of evil with combined forces. You probably don’t need to know any more if you want to be spared spoilers. As a fan of the universe, you already know the rough ending, as it is set 3,000 years before the film trilogy.
It’s still a long way off until the Gollum film with Peter Jackson as producer and Gollum actor Andy Serkis in the director’s chair. Unlike War of the Rohirrim, this is not an animation, but a live-action film. There is no date set. But the animated film is close – and is even set to be released in cinemas. The target date after a major delay is December 12th. War of Rohirim has nothing directly to do with the classic films, as it takes place 261 years before The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (2002). However, the interlocking brick set from a Lego competitor makes a direct reference. It is an interpretation of Minas Tirith.
Minas Tirith was the focal point in Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King
The city appears primarily in the third film of the trilogy. In The Return of the King it is the main setting for several important events, such as its own siege, the arrival of Aragorn and finally his coronation. Minas Tirith is the capital of the Kingdom of Gondor, but due to its location it is also an important defensive position against Mordor and Sauron’s minions in the form of the Orcs. Accordingly, it was built as a fortress: with seven concentric walls that rise in terraces on a mountain slope.
Many collectors would have liked to have the fortress city as a Lego model. Instead, fans were presented with the Lego Lord of the Rings set Barad-dûr (Sauron’s Fortress) exclusively in the shop this year. This costs the equivalent of around 8.4 cents per element, which is not even expensive by Lego standards. Some mini-figures and over 5,000 parts still have their price. It is around 460 euros.
Lego Lord of the Rings? No, but it only costs 2.4 cents per brick
The alternative from the provider QLT Ideas is significantly cheaper. 1,680 pieces cost just €40.36 in the limited-time offer on Amazon, which is marked in red. That works out at 2.4 cents per interlocking brick. You should just note that the studded bricks are not compatible with Lego, as is the case with BlueBrixx and Lego. The so-called mini blocks are about 1/4 smaller, which allows for finer details. We have already drawn attention to the offer twice, around the end of June. However, the discount stocks only lasted for a short time – the price quickly rose after the article was created. We can only hope that you can now benefit from the savings for longer. There are now also the first reviews on the product page, which are quite positive, although users do point out minor weaknesses. Given the price point, these apparently only play a minor role.

Even more bricks: Real Lego HDR here at the best price
Of course, you can also get real Lego Lord of the Rings from Amazon. The once exclusive Rivendell set, made up of over 6,000 pieces, currently costs 459.99 euros from the online giant after a 40 percent discount on the RRP. According to Geizhals price comparison, only Alternate is one cent cheaper, but charges 4.99 euros for shipping, which effectively makes Amazon the cheapest provider.

In addition, QLT is offering “Sauron’s Eye” or at least something reminiscent of it, this time in Lego-compatible format, for just 31.57 euros in a limited-time offer. The comparison price (“instead of”) is supposedly 41.99 euros, but we often see the studded bricks on offer for around 30 euros.
