After giving life to the Minecraft phenomenon, Markus “Notch” Persson is actively working on his next project, still in full development but slowly making progress. And via Twitter/X the author shows the first images of the work.
Notch doesn’t provide too many details on the nature of the game, but in any case from the first photos you can already see some traits in common with Minecraft, in particular regarding the inventory. It should also be a first-person 3D game that in any case is still in its infancy: the game designer explains that all the assets seen in the images are still provisional as are the portraits relating to the characters, created through AI in a very preliminary way while waiting to create the actual models. In any case, Notch specifies that his project is taking shape little by little until it looks more and more like a video game.
It now remains to be seen whether Notch’s new production will actually be completed and put on the market. Notch is known for having created Minecraft, then leaving the project in the hands of Mojang Studios, and then definitively abandoning the ship once the company became Microsoft’s property. Since then he has dedicated himself to other projects without returning strongly to the spotlight again: who knows if his new game could be the occasion for a return to the scene in grand style.
