Update: S-Game wanted to clarify the situation by stating that the statements of the anonymous developer are not shared by the company and do not in any way represent the company and its values.
The studio wants to bring Phantom Blade Zero to as many platforms as possible and is working hard on the development and publishing front. No aversion to Xbox but at the moment the game is not planned for this platform. Furthermore, it is revealed that a demo of Phantom Blade Zero will be shown at Gamescom in late August.
ORIGINAL NEWS
After the latest not particularly comforting news about the release of Phantom Blade Zero scheduled for autumn 2026, there are those who wonder if the long-awaited Action/RPG currently scheduled for PlayStation 5 and PC will also come to Xbox in the future. Well, a harsh answer seems to leave no room for great possibilities.
According to what was reported by the Brazilian portal Gameplayscassiwho attended ChinaJoy 2024, an anonymous developer from S-Game interviewed by the newspaper reportedly said that a possible Xbox Series X/S version of Phantom Blade Zero may never materialize because, the developer says, “nobody feels the need for this platform”, a response that is not very diplomatic in reality but which, it must be said, could also have been misunderstood, taken out of context or poorly translated from Chinese. We report what a member of the S-Game studio apparently said but at the moment there is no way to verify this statement.
Going into more detail, the developer explained to Brazilian blog Gameplayscassi that the Xbox brand is not particularly popular in Asia and Microsoft itself has created with its current consoles “a very overloaded system” that consequently makes it difficult to develop games for Xbox Series X/S. In this case, it is probably referring to the need to optimize games for two different platforms, one less powerful.
The S-Game employee did not categorically say no to the possible arrival of the game on Xbox consoles, also specifying that the studio does not have any exclusivity agreement with Sony, however his words suggest that the team wants to give maximum priority to the PS5 and PC versions already announced.
A situation substantially similar to what Game Science has already implemented, with its Black Myth Wukong which will be released on Xbox at a later date not yet defined, unlike the PS5 and PC versions instead scheduled for August 20, 2024. Who knows if in the future Phantom Blade Zero will also arrive on Xbox Series X/S, but for now it is better to keep expectations low.
Recently, we noticed that some media outlets have claimed to have interviewed an unnamed developer from S-GAME at Chinajoy, who seems to have made some statements regarding the release platforms and strategy for Phantom Blade Zero.
We want to clarify that these claimed…
