Shortly after the publication of the alleged interview with a developer who would have decidedly denigrated Xbox, a correction on these statements has arrived from the S-GAME team, although this does not exactly present a denial of the existence or otherwise of such an interview: in any case, the studio says it dissociates itself from such statements and that the company’s intention is instead to get closer to all users, also confirming that Phantom Blade Zero is not an exclusive.
Yesterday, a Brazilian site reported a dubious interview with developers from Game Science (authors of Black Myth: Wukong) and S-GAME, the team behind Phantom Blade Zero. The alleged developer of the latter team, answering the question about the possibility that the game could also arrive on Xbox, made a somewhat harsh statement about the Microsoft console, saying that “nobody needs Xbox”, or something like that.
The developer was listed as anonymous, so it is difficult to find confirmation of this interview, reported with all the conditionals of the case, but in fact the correction by S-GAME does not completely deny that this took place, precisely because of the lack of evidence.
No platform has been excluded
In any case, the new statement reports the official position of the Chinese team of Phantom Blade Zero, distancing itself from any bias on the subject.
“Recently, some outlets reported interviewing an anonymous developer from S-GAME during Chinajoy, who appeared to make some claims about the release platforms and launch strategy for Phantom Blade Zero,” reads the team’s official X post.
“We want to make it clear that these statements do not represent the values and culture of S-GAME, as we believe in making gaming accessible to everyone and have not ruled out any platforms for Phantom Blade Zero. We are hard at work in both development and publishing to ensure that as many players as possible can experience our game when it releases in the future. Our team looks forward to sharing more development updates soon, and we are thrilled to bring our game to a world premiere at Gamescom this month!”
Ultimately, beyond the denigratory issue, there is therefore the possibility that Phantom Blade Zero could also arrive on Xbox, given that the team does not appear to have ruled out any platform, or rather that there are no specific exclusivity agreements on the game.
In any case, for now the title remains announced for PS5 and PC, with a new presentation that will arrive during Gamescom 2024, from August 21 to 24.
