SEGA Registers Yakuza Wars Name in Japan
@Wario64 reports that SEGA has filed a trademark for “Yakuza Wars” on July 26, 2024 in Japan. The Like a Dragon franchise was previously known as Yakuza in the West.
While SEGA has yet to announce a game with this title or subtitle, it could be related to Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio’s upcoming Like a Dragon game, which will be making an appearance at Tokyo Game Show 2024.
In April 2024, Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio director Masayoshi Yokoyama revealed that they were not currently developing Yakuza Kiwami 3, but that they would “someday.”
In June 2024, Amazon announced a live-action series for Prime Video based on the Like a Dragon franchise called Like a Dragon: Yakuza. The live-action series will air on Amazon Prime and will be released in 2 batches on October 25 and November 1, 2024.
