The remake of “Silent Hill 2” has been criticized and praised in equal measure in recent months. In this context, the studio head has a request for the fans.
Bloober Team is working hard on the remake of “Silent Hill 2,” which will be released this year for PS5 and PC. In a conversation with Rolling Stones Piotr Babieno, the company’s CEO and creative director, previously addressed the expectations of fans and his own studio, which has grown significantly in recent years.
Criticism can have a positive influence on development
The studio head is aware that fans are closely analyzing every trailer, every rumor and every move by Bloober. However, Babieno asks that the final result be waited for before making a judgment.
“I dream that the players trust us,” he said. “But I realize that trust is earned through actions, not words. That’s why we have a policy of not commenting (on the details of the game) and raising hopes. We want to show our ambitions through our work, so we can’t ask more than: give us a chance.”
However, he does not want to criticize the critics’ criticism at all, as it can have a positive influence on development – provided the fans express themselves constructively. It is “invaluable for refining our project before release.”
Equally important is a supportive work environment in which the designers can “concentrate on their creative work in peace.” But that also means that they sometimes have to disconnect from the gamers and keep their ears closed.

Bloober has grown into a much larger studio
As the interview continued, the CEO referred to the new capacities. The studio has changed significantly. “Internally, we call it Bloober Team 3.0. I believe that Bloober is a completely different team today than it was three years ago,” explained Babieno.
This is reflected in the number of employees. While there were only ten people at the beginning of the development of “Layers of Fear”, the number grew to over 250 employees in 2024.
However, the increase in staff has not changed the basic concept of the studio. Bloober wants to continue to focus on horror games. According to Babieno, horror is part of the studio’s DNA.

Life is too short for meaningless games
The CEO also addressed the question of how the familiar and fan-loved atmosphere of the original can be transferred to the remake. However, the answer remained quite general.
“Life is too short and (the process of) game development is too long to make games that don’t feel meaningful,” Babieno said. “We want to make games that we would like to play ourselves and games that are very meaningful to our audience.”
