The That’s No Moon team is a new independent studio founded by some ex-Naughty Dog and Activision in 2021, which has since been working on a new project of which a first image has emerged these days, which doesn’t say much yet but helps to place the game a bit in terms of genre and setting.
It is clear, at this point, that the game in question is not related to Star Wars, as initially emerged from the rumors: partly because of the name of the team itself, which is clearly a quote from Obi Wan Kenobi in the first film of the series, and partly because it seemed to be linked to an existing and famous franchise, the belief had spread that the title in development at the studio was a Star Wars game, but this was later denied.
According to what the team itself reported, it should instead be a third-person triple-A single-player action adventure, developed based on Unreal Engine 5, even if this first image emerged and published by the MP1ST website confuses things a little compared to what one might have previously thought.
A war shooter?
Based on the images, it appears to be a war-themed shooter, so the classification as a AAA action adventure may seem a bit inconsistent, but it’s still too early to draw any conclusions.
MP1ST Leaked Image of First That’s No Moon Game
The image in question is a still from a demo video by a That’s No Moon VFX Artist.
In this one we see an armed soldier with a rifle aimed and a desert setting, in a level that could be a simple demonstration test. It’s a bit little, but it would seem to place the new production in the shooter category, perhaps third-person based on what we see, and with a modern war setting.
It’s hard to find a connection with the single player action adventure in its most classic sense, but anything is possible: after all, even the image might not necessarily have to do with a real game situation, but in the meantime we know that the project at That’s No Moon is moving forward.
