The extreme sports game “Descenders Next” will be released next year for Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One and PC. PlayStation players are left behind – but only for now.
Snowboarding is one of the sports you will practice.
Fans of extreme sports should have a lot of fun with Descenders Next, a sports game announced today by No More Robots and RageSquid.
It is the successor to “Descenders”, which reached a total of 30 million players after its release in 2018. Now those responsible want to build on this success.
For now, the game will only be released for Xbox Series, Xbox One and PC (via Game Pass). However, the PS5 and PS4 will also be available at a later date. The first release is planned for 2025.
At the beginning, the focus of “Descenders Next” is on board sports. Slide through snowy mountains on your snowboard and then head to the highlands for mountainboarding.
Whatever sport you do, each one feels completely different, so you can expect variety in your gameplay.
Sporting challenges with EDM in the background
In narrow parks you have the opportunity to tackle demanding challenges. Sometimes you have to slide down a mountain as quickly as possible, sometimes you have to perform as many tricks and perfect landings as possible. You can also go on scavenger hunts. Explore a mountain extensively and unlock exclusive items. The music is provided by the Monstercat label, which offers electronic dance music.
The scope at launch is expected to be similar to that of its predecessor. So look forward to a multiplayer mode, several expansive biomes and countless tricks.
As you climb to the top of the mountain, you’ll earn reputation, which can be used to purchase new boards, kits, helmets, goggles and other clothing items, allowing you to customize your rider to your own liking.
Ubisoft released a similar title in 2021: “Riders Republic”. Here you have the opportunity to race through hilly landscapes on a mountain bike or fly in a wingsuit.
