The fantasy show House of the Dragon will end with its fourth season, showrunner Ryan Condal announced.
House of the Dragon is based on the book series A Song of Ice and Fire by George R.R. Martin. The project is a prequel to Game of Thrones and tells the story of the struggle of the members of the Targaryen dynasty for the Iron Throne.
“Home” began in 2022 and was renewed in the summer of 2024. The final episode aired earlier this week, with 8.9 million viewers on HBO and other platforms. The series stars Matt Smith, Emma D’Arcy, Olivia Cooke and others.
Condal added that the third season of the drama will consist of eight episodes and will begin filming in early 2025. The prequel, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, will also be released on HBO soon.
