The organizer of the show turned out to be the local mayor.
In the Brazilian city of Trussu held a show animated film “Inside Out 2”. The film was shown outdoors right on the city square, but without Disney’s permission: they showed a pirated copy.
The organizer of the pirate screening was the mayor of the municipality that includes Trussu. Judging by the videos published by the guests of the screening and Brazilian publications, the screening was of rather low quality. Dozens of people gathered to watch the pirated “Puzzle 2”.
According to the mayor of the municipality, such screenings are held regularly: they are used to entertain pensioners and children. The mayor did not specify whether unlicensed copies of films are always used during the screenings.
As TorrentFreak writes, the mayor’s actions may have a justification: according to statistics, only 7% of Brazilian municipalities have movie theaters. Their shortage is felt both in rural areas and in large cities.
The mayor himself claims that all the guests of the show were satisfied. According to the publication, the mayor who organized the pirated show has not yet been presented with any legal claims.
Official release of Inside Out 2 in Brazil brought Disney around $78.4 million. This is the second result in Latin America: the film showed higher revenue only in Mexico.
